Meet Orbit

Orbit is your OpenOChem AI tutor. He keeps you on track for chemistry by combining tutoring, practice, and a mastery map in one place — so you can see what you have learned, get help when you are stuck, and practice the skills that show up on exams.

Once you are signed in, open Orbit from Learn (the top bar, or My Progress in your profile menu). You land on Orbit Home, with shortcuts to chat with Orbit, Quizzes, and My Path.

He keeps you on track by:

  • Remembering your current course so practice matches what you are taking
  • Mapping every chapter to learning objectives
  • Recording quiz attempts as mastery (not started → beginner → mastered)
  • Highlighting focus areas so you study the gaps, not the whole book again
  • Answering in chat like a TA: type a question, draw a structure, or attach a photo of notes, a mechanism, or a spectrum
  • Launching labs in the conversation when you need to see the molecule — Newman projections, Lewis structures, NMR/IR, mechanisms, and more
Take Note

Chat, quizzes, and My Path are one loop. Reading in Learn still matters. Orbit is how you know what to practice next, and how you get a quiz or an explanation the moment you need one.

The next pages walk through that loop in order: select your course, work the objectives on My Path, then ask Orbit in chat for a new quiz.
