Alcohols and Phenols

Geraniol is a monoterpenoid and an alcohol. It is the primary component of rose oil, palmarosa oil, and citronella oil.  The hydrogenation of geraniol yields citronellol which is chiral.  Both geraniol and citronellol are potent mosquito repellants.  Have you ever smelled a citronellol candle?
