Kumada Coupling

Kumada coupling uses the Grignard reagents R-MgX or R-Li along with a palladium or nickel catalyst to form carbon-carbon bonds. The coupling of Grignard reagents allows for the avoidance of additional steps to react, such as the conversion to zinc compounds in Negishi coupling.

This reaction has low functional group tolerance due to the harsh reaction conditions.
