Suzuki Coupling

For Suzuki coupling to occur, a suitable palladium catalyst, organoboron (RBY2), and an organic electrophile under basic conditions reacts to form a C-C s bond. The general scheme of Suzuki coupling is shown below:

Limitations:

Y groups on the organoboranes (BY2): alky groups, alkoxy groups, or hydroxyl groups resulting in organoboranes, boronic esters, and boronic acids, respectively.

R group of organoboron compound (R – BY2): vinyl, aryl, or allyl

Organic electrophile (R’X): R’ can be aryl or vinyl, X can be a halide or a triflate group

Reactivity: OTf > I > Br >>> Cl
